Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, has created a scholarship program which will offer one member of the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) $5,000 towards earning their master’s degree in industrial distribution at the university.
Texas A&M set up five scholarships with the goal of the recipients representing a mix of industries. One scholarship will be offered per industry channel. STADFA, and the future member scholarship recipient, was selected to represent the construction and industrial sector.
The master’s program in industrial distribution at Texas A&M is a 21-month, online curriculum and designed for working professionals who are emerging leaders. Requirements are that the participant have at least three to five years of experience and considered by their company to have high potential for management.
The candidate must apply and be admitted to the program by June for an August start date. Texas A&M faculty will select the STAFDA distributor to receive the scholarship. The recipient will be recognized during STAFDA’s General Session on Nov. 11 in Nashville.
Micro-Learning Series
STAFDA will also share Texas A&M’s “Talent Matters” micro-learning email series with members. Each Wednesday, STAFDA members will receive Texas A&M’s 3-4 minute read on actionable insights and strategies to implement into members’ talent recruitment and retention efforts. The university has interviewed individuals in all aspects of industrial distribution, from human resources to business administration, to executive vice presidents and talent acquisition, to provide members with content each week.
