The Manufacturer Index and Distributor Index both decreased in November, according to the Economic Indicator Report from the Industrial Supply Association. The ISA Distributor Index declined to 53.5 in November from 64.9 in October, while the Manufacturer Index decreased to 61.4 in November from 68 in October.
Comments included: “Daily sales activity dropped 5 percent to 6 percent from previous three months" and “this year has been a roller coaster and we can't wait to start 2017.”
For each index, a reading above 50 percent indicates expansion, while a reading below 50 percent indicates contraction.
