Fremont, California-based RK Logistics Group announced March 9 it has established its Midwest regional headquarters near Ann Arbor, Michigan. RK is a provider of warehousing, eCommerce fulfillment and supply chain management services.
Additionally, the company said that its new 52,800-square-foot logistics services center, also in the Ann Arbor area, is fully operational. The logistics services center, dubbed an “Innovation Center,” supports research and development for semiconductor equipment manufacturer KLA Corporation, according to a news release.
The Michigan operations, located in the Ann Arbor suburb of Whitmore Lake, are RK’s first venture outside of California. RK President Rock Magnan said Michigan’s active semiconductor and automotive industries — both markets that RK has served for over 20 years — made the area an ideal fit for RK.
“We’ve long supported the semiconductor equipment industry with unique, industry-specific logistics skills and capabilities,” Magnan said in the release. “As these clients establish operations in other regions, we are expanding with them in line with their growth and evolving logistics needs. We also believe Michigan is one of the most attractive states for new business, so we are positioning ourselves to capture new opportunities as well.”
The new Michigan site is the fifth facility RK has added to its network in the past 18 months, according to the release. RK opened two locations in Livermore, California, and two more in Newark, California, during that time.
