Distributors in the recent State of Analytics in Distribution research from MDM said that they face big hurdles in adopting the use of data for better decision-making in their businesses.
The top three hurdles to the adoption of analytics by respondents in the survey included:
- A weak technology infrastructure
- The lack of correct talent to use the data
- Inefficiencies in capturing and analyzing data
MDM Publisher Tom Gale writes: “While there is increasing awareness of the value of analytics, this research indicates a majority of respondents are far from satisfied with their current analytics capability.”
Just 12 percent of respondents said they rely on analytics for all of their sales, marketing and operational decisions, including pricing and product and customer selection.
