Our weekly team meeting at MDM this week had a little extra energy boost, and it had nothing to do with Red Bull. We welcomed Mike Hockett as MDM’s executive editor. Mike will share more detail in his first post for MDM on Monday (including his urban menagerie and cheesehead characteristics). He joins MDM with eight years of distribution industry experience as managing editor for Industrial Distribution magazine.
We’ve crossed paths over the years at industry events, and I’ve always had a deep respect for the depth of his reporting and writing style. The publication he joins us from has been a critical resource for the industry for more than 100 years. MDM has benefited from several of ID’s talented alumni joining our team over the years. As a bit of publishing historical trivia, MDM’s founder, Van Ness Philip, started MDM in 1967 after being an editor for Industrial Distribution magazine in the early 1960s, when it was owned by McGraw Hill.
I’m a firm believer that competition is healthy to keep elevating and refreshing value propositions. Strategically, I’m excited to have Mike onboard to ensure MDM stays true to its core mission of helping distribution leaders build stronger companies. The demographics of distribution leadership are changing quickly. Mike gives us a fresh voice to ensure we continue to evolve, stay relevant and remain a critical resource to the next generation of distribution leaders.
Mike, welcome!
We’re Hiring!
We’re looking to further strengthen our bench and searching for an editor as part of Mike’s growing team. If you are interested, or know someone with strong research, analytical and writing/communication skills with a business background, please contact Tish Drake, our SVP Publishing.
