Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. started off 2017 with a bang by acquiring two more companies, continuing the aggressive M&A approach that it forged last year when it added nine targets to its portfolio.
On the first business day of the year, the Herndon, VA-based roofing company announced the acquisition of American Building & Roofing Inc., Snohomish, WA, a distributor of mainly residential roofing and related building products with seven branches in Washington state.
The following week it acquired insulation distributor Eco Insulation Supply, Stamford, CT. The acquisition helps Beacon expand its footprint to a new and important geographical reach – Connecticut, Southern New England and the New York City metropolitan area – for its existing insulation business, which grew significantly with Beacon's acquisition of Roofing & Insulation Supply in December 2015.
Another company that was acquisitive in 2016, international distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl plc, began the new year by boosting its portfolio with two acquisitions.
Bunzl acquired Packaging Film Sales, Denver, CO, which sells food packaging products, including flexible barrier films and specialty bags and pouches, to food processors. And it acquired Woodway, Northampton, England, a supplier of both packaging products and solutions to a variety of end user customers in a number of market sectors throughout the UK.
