Building materials manufacturer Louisiana-Pacific Corp. (NYSE: LPX), Nashville, TN, reported sales for the third quarter of $718.3 million, an increase of 20.4 percent compared to the same period a year ago. The company reported a profit of $109.8 million, up 67.4 percent from the same quarter a year ago.
The oriented strand board segment reported sales for the third quarter of $350.9 million, an increase of 18 percent year-over-year. Sales for the siding segment increased 16.1 percent to $226.2 million. The engineered wood products segment reported sales of $98.1 million, an increase of 21.6 percent from a year ago. The South America segment had sales of $38.3 million, an increase of 20.8 percent.
Year-to-date sales were $2 billion, up 20.2 percent over the prior-year period. The company reported a profit of $259.2 million, compared to a profit of $107.6 million in the first nine months of 2016.
