AMETEK Inc., Paoli, PA, a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, reported sales of $1.1 billion for the third quarter, up 14.7 percent over the same period of 2016. Profit increased 17.7 percent to $153.5 million.

For the third quarter, electronics instruments group (EIG) segment sales were $671.6 million, an increase of 16 percent from the third quarter of 2016. Operating income was $164.4 million, up 15 percent over the prior year.

Electromechanical group (EMG) segment sales for the third quarter $413.2 million, up 13% compared to the same period of 2016. Operating income increased 18 percent to $84.1 million.

Year to date, the company reported sales of $3.2 billion, up 10.1 percent from the first nine months of 2017. Profit increased 9.9 percent to $442.9 million.
