Alcoa Corporation (NYSE: AA), a supplier of bauxite, alumina and aluminum products, reported revenue in the third quarter of 2017 of $3 billion, up 4 percent from the prior quarter, due to higher energy sales in Brazil, higher shipments in the company’s aluminum and bauxite segments, and increased aluminum prices, somewhat offset by a decline in alumina volume.
Profit for the quarter was $113 million.
Year-to-date, sales were $8.5 billion.
Because of a change in how financials are reported since Alcoa became a standalone business a year ago, comparisons between third-quarter 2016 and third-quarter 2017 are not necessarily indicator of the company’s performance year-over-year. Third-quarter 2016 sales were $2.3 billion.
