Consumer products company Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPB), Middleton, WI, reported second quarter sales of $1.17 billion, down 3.2 percent from the same period a year ago. The company reported a gain of $58.8 million, down 36.5 percent from 2016.
In the first quarter, global batteries and appliance sales decreased 2.7 percent, hardware and home improvement increased 4 percent and global pet supplies decreased 8 percent. Home and garden decreased 14.9 parent and global auto care decreased 0.4 percent.
Sales for the first six months were reported at $2.38 billion, down 1.9 percent year-over-year. Profit was a gain of $124.1 million, down 25.3 percent.
