Compared with October, November seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector was up 0.4 percent in both the euro area (EA19) and the EU28, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In October 2016, production in construction grew by 0.4 percent in the euro area and by 0.3 in the EU28.
In November 2016 compared with November 2015, production in construction remained stable in the euro area and rose by 0.2 percent in the EU28.
The increase of 0.4 percent in production in construction in the euro area in November 2016, compared with October 2016, is due to civil engineering rising by 1.0 percent and building construction by 0.3 percent.
In the EU28, the increase of 0.4 percent is due to civil engineering rising by 1.7 percent and building construction by 0.3 percent.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Slovenia (+9.4 percent), Poland (+6.7 percent) and Slovakia (+5.7 percent), while decreases were observed in Romania (-4.1 percent), Sweden (-1.3 percent), Spain (-0.8 percent) and France (-0.2 percent).
The stable production in construction in the euro area in November 2016, compared with November 2015, is due to civil engineering rising by 2.2 percent, while building construction fell by 0.6 percent.
In the EU28, the increase of 0.2 percent is due to building construction rising by 1.1 percent, while civil engineering fell by 2.1 percent.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in production in construction were recorded in Sweden (+7.6 percent) and the Netherlands (+7 percent), and the largest decreases in Slovenia (-15 percent), Hungary (-14.4 percent) and Romania (-13.9 percent).
