WESCO International Inc. (NYSE: WCC), Pittsburgh, PA, reported second-quarter sales of $2.1 billion, up 10% compared to the second quarter of 2017. Net income was $58 million, a 17 percent increase compared to the year-ago period.
WESCO’s sales for the first half of the year were $4.1 billion, an increase of 11.3% compared to the year-ago period. Net income for the first half was $102.3 million, up 17% compared to 2017.
The results continued WESCO’s broad-based return to growth, which began in mid-2017, according to Chairman, President and CEO John Engel.
WESCO also announced the appointment of Easwaran Sundaram to its board of directors, effective August 15. Sundaram has served as the executive vice president and chief digital and technology officer of JetBlue Airways Corporation since 2012. Previously, he was senior vice president of global supply chain and chief information officer at Pall Corporation and served in a senior supply chain management role at PSS World Medical–McKesson Corporation.
