Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported 2017 sales of $177.9 billion, up 31 percent over 2016. Profit increased 27.9 percent to $3 billion.
Fourth-quarter sales increased 38 percent to $60.5 billion. Profit was $1.9 billion, up from $749 million the same quarter a year ago.
North America sales in the fourth quarter rose 42.1 percent to $37.3 billion. Profit increased to $1.7 billion during the quarter, compared to $816 million the previous year.
International sales increased 29.2 percent to $18 billion. The company reported a loss for the segment of $919 million, compared to a loss of $497 million the previous year.
AWS sales increased 44.6 percent to $5.1 billion. Profit rose 46.2 percent to $1.4 billion.
