Building materials distributor Huttig Building Products Inc. (NASDAQ: HBP), St. Louis, Missouri, reported sales of $197.4 million for the first quarter of 2019, a 0.3% decrease over the prior-year period. The company reported a loss of $3.2 million for the quarter compared to a loss of $0.5 million in the first quarter of 2018.
Millwork product sales remained consistent in the first quarter of 2019 as compared to the first quarter of 2018 at $95.3 million. Building products sales increased 2.9% in the first quarter of 2019 to $88.1 million, compared to $85.5 million in the first quarter of 2018 and wood product sales decreased 18.6% in the first quarter of 2019 to $14 million, compared to $17.2 million in the first quarter of 2018.
