Builders FirstSource, Inc., Dallas, TX, supplier and manufacturer of structural and related building products for residential new construction in the U.S., has acquired Waid Home Center, Inc.
Based in Auburn, AL, Waid is a full-line building materials supplier with sales of $25 million in 2005. Its product offerings include: lumber, tools, windows, roofing, molding, paint, sheetrock and insulation.
Floyd Sherman, Builders FirstSource CEO, said, “The Waid acquisition expands our presence into Alabama. We are extremely bullish on this area due to the job growth we expect from the nearby Kia automotive plant that is under construction. We also believe this creates an opportunity to sell prefabricated products into the market.”
Builders FirstSource operates in 12 states, principally in the southern and eastern U.S., and has 67 distribution centers and 55 manufacturing facilities, many of which are located on the same premises as its distribution facilities. Manufacturing facilities include plants that manufacture roof and floor trusses, wall panels, stairs, aluminum and vinyl windows, custom millwork and pre-hung doors. Builders FirstSource also distributes windows, interior and exterior doors, dimensional lumber and lumber sheet goods, millwork and other building products.
