Genuine Parts Company, Atlanta, GA, has announced a new operating unit, the Heavy Vehicle Parts Group USA. The new unit, based in Atlanta will have dedicated facilities across the U.S. that supply replacement parts for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and trailers. This group will serve fleet operators, major repair facilities, trailer OEM’s and others in the heavy-duty parts distribution channel.
The unit follows the template established in GPC’s Canadian heavy-duty business, which has three distribution centers and 80 stores.
GPC estimates the market in heavy-duty aftermarket replacement parts at $15-$20 billion annually.
Genuine Parts Company is a distributor of automotive replacement parts in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company also distributes industrial replacement parts in the U.S. and in Canada through its Motion Industries subsidiary. S.P. Richards Company, the Office Products Group, distributes office products nationwide in the U.S. and in Canada. The Electrical/Electronic Group, EIS, Inc., distributes electrical and electronic components throughout the U.S. and in Canada and Mexico. Genuine Parts Company had 2005 revenues of $9.8 billion.
