The Fastenal Company, Winona, MN, reported sales increased 19.7% in the second quarter 2006 over the same period in 2005. Sales totaled $458.8 million for the three-month period ended June 30, 2006. Profit increased 15.4%.
Net sales for the six-month period ended June 30, 2006, totaled $890.5 million, an increase of 20.8% over sales in the same period in 2005. Profit increased 21.7% to $99.3 million.
During the first half of 2006, Fastenal opened 132 new sites. These 132 new sites represent an additional 7.5% stores since Dec. 31, 2005. There were 7,098 site employees as of June 30, and increase of 11% and 15.6% from Dec. 31, 2005, and June 30, 2005, respectively.
