U.S. sales of power transmission/motion control products rose 10.7% from 2004 to 2005, the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) reported. Sales decreased 2.2% from November 2005 to December 2005, but were up 9.3% as compared with December 2004.
Days sales in accounts receivables increased 3.9% as compared over November 2005 and were flat as compared to the same month last year. Annualized sales-to-inventory ratio was 7.7 in December 2005, as compared to 7.9 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of U.S. distributors remained flat at 6.8 on a 10-point scale.
Canadian distributors’ year-to-date sales of PT/MC products increased 11% as compared to sales for January through December 2004. Sales decreased 6.1% over the previous month and were up 10.2% as compared to December 2004.
Days sales in accounts receivables increased 7.2% over November 2005 but decreased 3.6% over the same month last year. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 7.5 in December 2005, as compared to 7.2 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of Canadian distributors fell to 5.8 from 6.5 in November on a 10-point scale.
In December, U.S. manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC increased 9.6% as compared to sales for January through December 2004. Sales fell 9.1% over the previous month and decreased 2.1% as compared to December 2004. As compared to November, sales of mounted bearings, standard industrial motors, variable speed drives and shaft couplings increased. Sales of unmounted bearings, positioning systems/linear motion products, gear products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, and clutches and brakes decreased.
Year-to-date orders of PT/MC products from U.S. manufacturers grew 11.2% as compared to 2004. December orders were down 9.1% over November and decreased 0.7% as compared to December 2004. Annualized sales to inventory ratio was 9.6 in December 2005 as compared to 11.9 in December 2004.
For December, the confidence level of U.S. manufacturers decreased to 5.5 from 5.6 in November on a 10-point scale.
Canadian manufacturers’ sales of PT/MC products increased 3.4% as compared to sales for January through December in 2004. Sales fell 19.6% over the previous month and decreased 1.0% as compared to December 2004. As compared to November, sales of variable speed drives and shaft couplings increased. Sales of mounted bearings, unmounted bearings, gear products, mechanical drive systems and other PT products, and clutches and brakes decreased.For December, the confidence level of Canadian manufacturers decreased to 5.1 from 5.2 in November.
