Kalamazoo, MI-based rotating equipment distributor and services provider HECO acquired Warwood Armature Repair Company and its sales division, WARCO Sales.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Warwood and WARCO Sales joined HECO’s existing electric motor sales and service centers and hubs in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
Founded in 1927 by Raymond Thalman and Lawrence Schmitt, Warwood initially specialized in rewinding armatures for local coal mines in Wheeling, WV. In 1974, the company expanded by creating a new division, WARCO Sales, to focus on the sales of new motors.
HECO said the newly acquired Warwood facility — located in Wheeling, WV — provides electric motor repair, sales and field services with specialized focus on coal, steel, shale and industrial customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
“HECO as well as Warwood customers can expect the same level of service and knowledge from familiar faces going forward,” HECO President Justin Hatfield said in a November news release. “Together, we will also share our respective areas of expertise throughout our combined footprint and capabilities.”
Warwood also provides extensive gearbox repair services for units weighing up to 25 tons. HECO said these services will remain available at Warwood and accessible to all HECO customers.
President of Warwood William Thalman will take on the role of Operations Manager, and all current employees will retain positions and responsibilities.
