Electrical supplies distributor Sonepar acquired seven North American companies in 2024, adding more than $2 billion in revenue, approximately 1,700 new associates and 89 additional branches, the company shared Nov. 13.
The France-based company — which has Americas headquarters in Charleston, SC — has closed 21 acquisitions in North America since 2021.
Sonepar has expanded its network with several automated distribution centers and increased branch density, now operating 548 branches across all provinces, territories and states in North America.
“North America is our largest market, where Sonepar leads in building and industrial verticals serving customers with a best-in-class level of service,” Sonepar President & CEO Philippe Delpech said in a news release. “With $36 billion in sales in 2023, Sonepar is the world leader in B2B electrical distribution of products and services, deploying a global automated supply chain and a proprietary omnichannel digital platform called Spark. Today, the U.S. is leading in size, processes, technology and workforce quality.”

The company said it built on its recent advancements by introducing new services such as panel shop design and assembly, while also expanding its expertise and product offerings in the solar, EV, industrial, broadband, and utility sectors.

This strategy will continue to be an important focus for Sonepar across the Americas.”
Sonepar’s Biggest Acquisitions of 2024:
- Sonepar acquired Albuquerque, NM-based Summit Electric Supply, gaining 23 branch locations in the U.S. southwest and more than 700 associates.
- The company acquired Council Bluffs, IA-based Echo Electric Supply, adding 23 branch locations and more than 600 associates across Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota and Missouri.
- Sonepar acquired Madison Electric and Standard Electric, two Michigan-based electrical and industrial products distributors. Sonepar gained over 550 associates and 36 locations across Michigan.
In other recent company news Sonepar said it restructured the company’s Americas leadership teams on Oct. 9. The company also kicked off its inaugural national brand advertising campaign entitled “Our Knowledge is ELECTRIC.” The initiative is set to continue throughout 2025.
Sonepar’s North American operations were No. 2 on MDM’s Top Distributors List for Electrical/Data/Security products.
