Distribution Supply Chain Platform Kodaris, GMS Ink 10-Year Partnership Deal - Modern Distribution Management

Distribution Supply Chain Platform Kodaris, GMS Ink 10-Year Partnership Deal

It extends what has already been a decade-long relationship, helping Kodaris enhance and scale its suite of enterprise features.

Kodaris — a flexible software-as-a-service platform offering a suite of enterprise features for distributors — has secured a long-term partnership agreement with building materials distributor GMS Inc.

Spanning 10 years, the agreement extends what has already been a decade-long relationship between the supply chain platform and distributor. It involves GMS investing in Kodaris and becoming a minority partner in the Peachtree City, GA-based company. GMS will take a board seat and further support Kodaris’ growth.

Tucker, GA-based GMS — which operates more than 300 distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada that provide wallboard, ceilings, steel framing and complementary products — was No. 9 on MDM’s 2024 Top Distributors List for Building Materials/Construction with $5.3 billion in fiscal 2023 revenue.

Kodaris, meanwhile, has been a GMS partner since its 2014 founding. Collaborations with additional distributors helped the company build what it calls the “Supply Chain Platform of the Future,” offering an open, non-competitive structure and flexibility by releasing features and updates every seven days. Its growing module set of features includes commerce, PIM, CMS, mobility, customer portal, AR payments, customer payments, order automation, AP automation, CRM, payments, logistics delivery, rest APIs and more. The Kodaris team has over 80 years of combined distribution experience.

The distribution-focused company said the GMS investment will allow for further expansion in research and development and scaling the business while maintaining the service levels and customer experience it provides today.

Kodaris has taken its model of customer partnerships that began with GMS and is carrying that forward to all customers,” company Founder and CEO Tony Zakula told MDM. “We are formally committing to it with not only this investment and partnership, but by also founding a formal innovation group that will consist of innovative distribution customers.”

“GMS is deeply committed to Kodaris and the innovative track record and expectation of continued relevant innovation,” added John Turner, GMS CEO. “The tech works in the real world and our track record together gives us confidence in even greater things to come.”

Turner added that GMS’ board seat with Kodaris provides a formal framework for the distributor to provide more regular support and remain close to the platform’s applications.
