Pipe, valves and fittings distributor The Macomb Group acquired Leonhardt Pipe & Supply, Inc. (Leonhardt).

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Huntersville, NC-based Leonhardt — a distributor of fire protection products, fabrication and service — was founded by David Leonhardt in 1998. The company has operations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

“The strategy of expanding our Charlotte warehouse to 120,000-square-feet last September was to introduce our fire protection and fabrication service into the southeast, The Macomb Group Director of Fire & Fabrication Dennis Roberts said in an Oct. 1 news release. “Shortly after commencing fabrication operations in the spring, we had the opportunity to open a dialogue with Leonhardt Pipe & Supply owner and President David Leonhardt.”

Leonhardt will join the Fire & Fabrication Division, while Joshua Leonhardt and Bob Phoenix, who are currently VPs at Leonhardt Pipe & Supply, will become part of The Macomb Group’s Southeastern Fire & Fabrication leadership team.

“The timing for both of our companies was ideal, as we were in the process of planning for the Charlotte expansion of our Carolina fabrication operations, currently located in Blackstock, SC,” David Leonhardt said.

With the acquisition of Leonhardt, The Macomb Group’s Fire & Fabrication operations now have production capabilities in Michigan, Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

The Sterling Heights, MI-based company’s most recent previous acquisitions were of Trident & Fabrication (Carlstadt, NJ), completed on June 18 and Woodhill Supply (Willoughby, OH), completed on May 13.
