Motion, flow control, automation and MRO supplies distributor Applied published its 2024 ESG Report detailing its progress toward sustainability and responsible business practices.
Some highlights from the report:
- Achieved a 3% reduction in total energy consumption and increased the proportion of waste that is recycled.
- Enhanced transparency regarding operations and initiatives, providing details on Applied’s waste production and water usage.
- Reduced the total recordable incident rate (TRIR) by 31% year-over-year, below benchmarks set by industry associations and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Conducted an initial environmental assessment and gap analysis, leading to the creation of an Environmental Management System Manual.
“Consistent with our commitment to continuous improvement, our ESG strategy is approached with a long-term perspective and balanced focus on driving steady progress that aligns with our Core Values and stakeholders’ expectations,” Applied President and CEO Neil Schrimsher said in a Sept. 18 news release. “We have integrated our ESG strategy across our business to reduce our environmental footprint, foster a workplace where all our associates can thrive, create a positive impact in our communities, operate in an ethical and responsible way, and help our customers achieve their sustainability goals.”
Applied was No. 1 on MDM’s Top Distributor’s List for Fluid Power, No. 2 for Power Transmission/Bearings, No. 12 for Industrial Supplies and No. 12 for MRO.
