Motion Industries, a Birmingham, AL-based distributor of MRO replacement parts, announced its commitment to Partnership Accreditations in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) program in Canada.

PAIR, a program of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), was established in 2001. It consists of an online management and reporting tool that supports companies’ effort toward improvement in Indigenous relations.

“We felt it was important for Motion to be part of the truth and reconciliation process in Canada,” Motion Group Canada Executive Brent Pope said in a July 23 news release. “Our involvement with the CCIB will provide direction, resources and a partnership to guide us on our journey.”

The program provides assurances to its clientele through an independent, third-party verification in four performance areas — Leadership Actions, Employment, Business Development and Community Relations (Engagement and Support).

“Motion is proud to be a valued business partner with the CCIB, and we look forward to a longstanding relationship that showcases our commitment to prosperity within all Indigenous communities,” Motion’s President James Howe said.

Motion — No. 2 on MDM’s Top Distributors List for Industrial Supplies, No. 2 for MRO and No. 1 for Power Transmission/Bearing — operates over 550 branches and 17 distribution centers in North America and over 150 branches and service centers in Asia Pacific with an additional 13 distribution centers in Australasia.

Motion’s parent company — Genuine Parts Company — reported its 2024 second quarter financial results on July 23, showing specifics on Motion’s 2Q performance.
