Building materials distributor Kodiak Building Partners has strengthened its northern U.S. mountain presence with an acquisition in Idaho.
The Englewood, CO-based company shared May 9 that it acquired Valley Lumber & Rental — a distributor of hardware and building supplies to contractors and homeowners in Victor, ID and surrounding areas along the Idaho/Wyoming border.
Established in 2003, Valley has served the Teton Valley, ID community for over two decades.
“Our partnership with Kodiak opens exciting opportunities for growth and innovation,” said Valley Lumber & Rental President Whitney Gardiner. “We’re eager to leverage Kodiak’s expansive network of resources to enhance our services and meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
It marks Kodiak’s second acquisition of the year, following Waco, TX-based Gross-Yowell in early January.
“Our acquisition of Valley Lumber & Rental underscores Kodiak’s commitment to growth and investment with great partners in thriving markets like Teton Valley,” Kodiak CEO Steve Swinney said in a news release. “By partnering with Valley Lumber & Rental, we’re positioned to tap into the force in the universe that makes things happen — all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the bear.”
Valley adds to Kodiak’s 40+ acquisitions that it has made since its 2011 founding. Its footprint spans more than 100 locations across 25 states, backed by 6,000+ employees.
Swinney joined the MDM Podcast in a late November 2023 episode, in which he discussed Kodiak’s acquisition strategy that centers on local empowerment for the distributors that the company acquires.
