Abrasives and power tools manufacturer WALTER Surface Technologies has gained a strong robotics presence with its latest acquisition.
The Windsor, CT-based company acquired PushCorp, Inc. — a Garland, TX-based robotic, material-removal, end-of-arm tooling, specializing in robotic force control, servo spindles and automation equipment.
WALTER said that adding PushCorp to its portfolio will help its customers be more productive and confidently approach robotics and automation for their material removal process.
“PushCorp brings to WALTER its USA-made robotic equipment and force control devices that will allow us to continue to expand our solutions to help customers as they integrate automation into their manufacturing processes,” WALTER CEO Marc-André Aubé said in a March 11 news release. “This transaction is an unequalled opportunity to position WALTER as a leader in robotic and automated material removal solutions in North America as we continue to evaluate other growth strategies, namely through accretive acquisitions.”
The move follows WALTER’s November 2023 announcement that it had launched a new service that expanded the company’s automation and robotic solutions for industrial manufacturers, particularly in material removal operations. WALTER named PushCorp as one of the system integrator and end-of-arm tool manufacturers that it had partnered with as part of that service.
“We saw in this opportunity the perfect alignment of both customers, products and values,” PushCorp CEO Mike McMillen said about the acquisition. “We are proud to see PushCorp adding its experience & robotic solutions to WALTER’s renowned and robust offering. We are confident this is a strong pathway to growth, and success for our shared customers.”
Following the transaction, PushCorp will continue to operate under its respective brands. Terms weren’t disclosed for the deal, which is effective immediately.
It was WALTER’s second deal announced in 2024. On Jan. 8, the company shared it had acquired cutting tools manufacturer Greenfield Industries (Seneca, SC).
This past Feb. 12, WALTER announced the appointment of Jean-Marie Maayoufi as the company’s new Safety Sales Director.
