Amazon Business announced March 2 that it has added a new purchase order closing feature to its mobile app that the business products marketplace said enables customers to save time and reduce costs.

Now available in the U.S., the “3-Way Match” feature gives the platform’s nearly 1 million active users a simple and quick way to close purchase orders at any time and place and at no additional cost.

To do so, account administrators and approved buyers use their mobile device to simply scan the barcode of a package and automatically mark the item as received. A successful 3-Way Match includes matching and verifying the purchase order, the invoice and the receipt before a payment is made.

The company said this common accounting control ensures that a business’ purchase payments ar received, accurate and complete. Until now, Amazon Business said, purchase order closing was cumbersome because it was only available on desktop or via handheld scanners.

“Manual processes cannot be scaled efficiently, especially for large organizations,” Amazon Business VP of Technology Doug Gray said in a news release. “Integrating our 3-Way Match capability on the Amazon Business mobile app simplifies the process so customers can reconcile their purchases in seconds.”

The company added that with 3-Way Match, accounts payable and procurement teams can protect their organization from paying for incorrect invoices, items not yet received, or fraudulent purchases — all while automating the process to save a significant amount of time.

Customers can download the Amazon Business mobile app by visiting Google Play store for Android users or the Apple App store for iOS users.

The 3-Way Match feature launch follows Amazon Business’ Feb. 16 announcement that it has collaborated with National Industries for the Blind to launch the AbilityOne storefront as a means to advance inclusive procurement.

AbilityOne is a federally administered program that dates back to the 1930s as one of the largest sources of U.S. employment for individuals who are blind or living with significant disabilities.

Amazon Business notes that the new storefront provides a convenient way for government customers to shop for AbilityOne and SKILCRAFT items in one location.
