Michigan-based Alro Steel announced Sept. 1 an agreement to acquire Access Metals in Maryland. Ownership of Access Metals will transfer to Alro Steel effective Sept. 30, according to a news release.
“Alro shares my philosophy to exceed customer expectations through superior service and teamwork,” Access Metals President Yolanda Drenner said.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded by Drenner in 2006, Access Metals is a service center specializing in small orders serving customers in the manufacturing, machining and fabricating industries. Access Metals is based in Essex, Maryland, just east of Baltimore.
“We are excited to welcome Access Metals to the Alro family,” Alro Steel CEO Randy Glick said. “Access Metals has a reputation for superior customer service with a strong base of manufacturing customers in Maryland.”
Alro Steel was founded in 1948 in Jackson, Michigan, and has more than 70 locations in 13 states. Alro stocks metals, plastics and industrial supplies and also runs a chain of hardware stores — Alro Metals Outlet — which offer their products in a retail setting.
