Cleveland-based JIS Distribution LLC announced it has acquired Erie Tool & Supply Co., a Toledo, Ohio-based company that has served northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan industrial customers for over 85 years. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Erie Tool & Supply’s focus is cutting tools, abrasives, cutting fluids and inventory management systems, which JIS said dovetails with its areas of expertise. JIS will operate a new branch out of the Erie Tool and Supply Co. facility.
By combining JIS and Erie Tool and Supply Co., JIS said it was expanding geographically and opening a new branch in the Erie Tool and Supply facility in the Toledo. JIS said keeping inventory at this new location would benefit its customers in the Northwestern Ohio area.
JIS will initially keep the Erie Tool and Supply Co. brand as it starts the integration process. The long-term plan is for Erie Tool and Supply Co. be fully integrated into JIS over the course of the next 12 months.
“This acquisition allows us to expand geographically and strengthen our relationships with our Northwestern Ohio customers,” said JIS General Manager Matt Schron.
JIS, which is a division of Jergens, Inc., is an industrial distributor of metalworking products that represents more than 300 manufacturers.
