Laboratory products distributor VWR Corp. (NASDAQ: VWR), Radnor, PA, has acquired Integra Companies Inc., Devens, MA, and STI Components Inc., Greensboro, NC.
Integra Companies provides comprehensive single use connectivity solutions including tubing, hoses and gaskets for high-purity environments to customers in the biopharmaceutical, food processing and microelectronic industries in the Northeast U.S.
STI Components distributes high-purity fluid handling components and custom engineered solutions for the biopharmaceutical, food processing and microelectronic industries in the Southeast U.S.
The acquisitions increase VWR's offering of single use disposable products and clean room kitting.
VWR Corp. reported sales for the third quarter of $1.1 billion, a year-over-year increase of 5.6 percent. Organic growth was 4.1 percent. Profit was $65.4 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $25.6 million.
Organic sales increased 3.4 in the Americas segment and 5 percent in the EMEA-APAC segment.
For the nine month period, sales were $3.3 billion, up 4.6 percent over the prior-year period. Profit was $74.4 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $30.6 million.
