Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Chicago, IL, reported sales for May increased 6 percent year-over-year. Results for the month included a 2 percent increase from acquisitions and a 1 percent decline from unfavorable foreign exchange.
Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 5 percent, driven by 6 percentage points from volume, partially offset by 1 percentage points from lower sales of seasonal products.
U.S. segment sales were up 8 percent year-over-year, while Canada sales were down 7 percent. Other businesses segment sales increased 16 percent compared to May 2013.
