Brady Corporation (NYSE: BRC), Milwaukee, WI, reported sales for the fiscal third quarter ended Apr. 30, 2014, of $309.6 million, an increase of 2.3 percent from the previous year. Profit was $20.2 million, compared to $21.7 million in the same quarter the previous year.
For the first six months of the fiscal year, sales were $908.3 million, a 7.2 percent increase from the same period the previous year. The company reported a profit of $48.8 million year-to-date, compared to $37.3 million over the same period the previous year.
Organic sales decreased 0.1 percent. Identification solutions revenues were up 3.6 percent, while workplace safety sales were down 6.3percent.
“This 1.9 percent decline in our workplace safety business is a much smaller rate of decline compared to previous quarters as we continue to add new customers, increase revenues over the internet and have recently returned our catalog advertising to historical levels." said Thomas J. Felmer, Brady’s CEO, CFO and interim president.
