AmerisourceBergen Corp. (NYSE: ABC), Valley Forge, PA, reported sales for the fiscal second quarter ended March 31 of $32.7 billion, an increase of 14.8 percent. The company reported a loss of $513.4 million for the quarter, compared to a profit of $180.1 million in the same period the prior year.
Pharmaceutical distribution second quarter segment sales were $31.8 billion, an increase of 13.7 percent compared to the same quarter the prior year.
For the first six months, sales were $66.3 billion, up 15 percent year-over-year. The company reported a loss of $713.3 million for the six month period, compared to a profit of $221.5 million the prior year period.
"We have had excellent results in the first half of fiscal 2015, with tremendous financial performance and important progress made against our strategic objectives," said Steven H. Collis, president and CEO. "During the March quarter, we completed the acquisition of MWI Veterinary Supply, and in April, we extended our contract with our large pharmacy benefit management customer for an additional year."
