Johnson Controls Inc. (NYSE: JCI), a Milwaukee, WI-based global multi-industrial company, reported sales for the fiscal 2015 first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, of $10.7 billion, a 1 percent increase compared to the same period a year ago.
Profit during the quarter was $507 million, a 12.4 percent increase compared to the same period a year ago.
Building Efficiency sales in the fiscal 2015 first quarter were $3.5 billion, 5 percent higher than the same quarter last year. Segment income was $201 million, up 38 percent.
Automotive Experience sales in the quarter fell 3 percent to $5.3 billion. Segment income was $249 million, 26 percent higher than the same quarter last year.
Power Solutions sales in the first quarter increased 4 percent to $1.8 billion. Segment income was $318 million, up 4 percent
"Profitability improved significantly in the quarter, as we benefitted from higher volumes and our continuing focus on execution improvements," said chairman and CEO Alex Molinaroli. "The results in the quarter are better than the expectations we provided at our analyst day in December."
