Linde Accepts Praxair’s Offer to Resume Merger Talks

Companies' on-again, off-again discussion to unite now back on track.

Linde AG (OTCPK: LNEGY) confirmed that it has resumed talks of a "potential merger of equals" with Praxair Inc. (NYSE: PX), Danbury, CT.

As MDM reported this week, Praxair said it has asked Linde about resuming discussions of a potential merger but wouldn't comment further; and Linde has formally accepted Praxair's proposal to discuss a merger three months after shareholder representatives on its supervisory board recommended ending the talks.

Also, Wolfgang Büchele told Linde he would step down as chairman of the executive board; he will be replaced by Aldo Ernesto Belloni.
