Encore Wire Corp. (NASDAQ Global Select: WIRE), McKinney, TX, reported sales for the second quarter of $238.8 million, a 5.9 percent decrease year-over-year. Profit for the quarter decreased 31 percent to $7.8 million.
Copper unit volume, measured in pounds of copper contained in the wire sold, increased 14 percent in the second quarter.
Sales for the first six months were $464.4 million, down 7.9 percent year-over year. Profit decreased 25.8 percent to $16.4 million.
