Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported sales for the second quarter of $3.7 billion, a 2.4 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased to $747.6 million, compared to $78.9 million the prior year.
Industrial segment sales for the second quarter were $753.4 million, a 4 percent decrease year-over-year. Climate segment sales were up 4.2 percent to $2.9 billion.
For the first six months, sales were $6.6 billion, a 1.5 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Profit increased to $900 million, compared to $130.2 million the prior year.
