Alfa Laval, Stockholm, Sweden, reported sales for the third quarter were SEK 5.8 billion (US$863 million), down slightly from the prior year same period. Excluding the impact of currency exchange, sales increased 2 percent. Profit increased 7.7 percent to SEK 758 million (US$112.8 million).

For the first nine months, sales were SEK 17.6 billion (US$2.62 billion), down 9.9 percent compared to the first nine months of 2009. Excluding the impact of currency exchange, sales declined 6 percent. Profit increased 5 percent to SEK 2.21 billion (US$328.8 million).
