The Timken Co. (NYSE: TKR), North Canton, OH, reported sales for the second quarter of $673.6 million, down 7.5 percent year-over-year. Profit decreased 41.5 percent to $44.9 million.
Mobile industries sales in the second quarter decreased 5.4 percent year-over-year and process industries sales decreased 9.9 percent.
Year-to-date sales were $1.4 billion, down 6.4 percent year-over-year. The company reported a profit of $107.9 million, compared to a loss of $98.5 million the prior year.
