Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Chicago, IL, reported sales for October declined 1 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Results for the month included 4 percentage points from Cromwell Group (Holdings) Ltd., acquired Sept. 1, and a 3 percentage point reduction from foreign exchange.
Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic daily sales declined 2 percent driven by a 1 percentage point decline in price and a 1 percentage point decline from lower sales of safety products.
U.S. segment sales were down 3 percent year-over-year and Canadian segment sales were down 25 percent, 13 percent in local currency. Other businesses segment sales increased 43 percent compared to October 2014, or 54 percent in local currency.
