Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Chicago, IL, reported daily sales for May increased 1 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Results for the month included a 4 percentage point contribution from Cromwell Group (Holdings) Ltd, acquired Sept. 1.
Excluding acquisitions, organic daily sales were down 3 percent, driven by a 1 percentage point decrease in volume, a 1 percentage point decline in price, and a 1 percentage point negative impact from the wildfires in Alberta.
U.S. segment sales were down 3 percent year-over-year and Canadian segment sales were down 20 percent, 15 percent in local currency. Other businesses segment sales increased 44 percent compared to May 2015, or 43 percent in local currency.
