Ace Hardware, a retailer-owned hardware cooperative, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2024 with significant milestones that include its 100th store opening of the year, with much more expansion planned ahead.

In the first six months of 2024, Ace Hardware activated 111 new stores, setting a record for the retailer. Fixit Ace Hardware in Roswell GA. is Ace’s 5,000 domestic location. Over the past five years, Ace has opened over 900 news stores globally, including 203 last year, and disbursed dividends of $357 million, providing a 35% return for shareholders in 2023.

“I’m so proud to announce our 100th new store opening of the year in the 100th anniversary of the company,” said Ace Hardware President and CEO, John Venhuizen in a July 16 news release. “This serendipitous symmetry is a beautiful testament to the enduring relevance in our faith that human connection and a servant heart is not the enemy of a successful business, it’s the enabler.”

Ace said it is on track to open 200 new stores in 2024, driven by existing retailers opening additional locations, competitor stores converting to Ace, and new investors entering the market. Ace operates over 5,800 locally owned stores in all 50 states and 60 countries, with global sales topping $22 billion.
