Praxair Distribution, Inc.,, Danbury, CT, a subsidiary of Praxair, Inc., announced discount reductions and price increases for its industrial, medical and specialty gas cylinder customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Increases will be up to 30% for helium, fuel gases and rare gases; 15% for argon, hydrogen and carbon dioxide/dry ice; 10% for oxygen, USP oxygen, nitrogen and nitrous oxide; and 15% for cylinder rental and facility fees.
 
Praxair said the price increases were due in part to escalating labor, energy and fuel costs and reflect the limited global availability of raw materials for certain products, particularly helium.

Praxair China has announced plans to build a specialty gases facility in the Nanjing Science Park, in Nanjing, China.

This facility will allow Praxair to dramatically increase its presence in the rapidly growing Chinese specialty gas markets,” said David Chow, president of Praxair China. “With the addition of high-purity gases, calibration gases and ultra-high-purity gases for the electronics segment, this facility will also be capable of producing complex mixtures for research laboratories and emission testing centers being developed throughout China.”

Industrial gases company Praxair, Inc., Danbury, CT, has agreed to sell its majority interest in Maxima Air Separation Center Ltd., Ramat Gan, Israel, to Discount Investment Corporation Ltd., one of Israel’s largest holding companies, a part of the IDB Group.

Maxima has two air separation plants and had sales of $23 million in 2006. Praxair, Inc., Danbury, CT, has agreed to buy a 50% stake in the industrial gases business of Yara International ASA of Norway.

The joint venture would initially include Yara’s existing industrial gases businesses in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The venture would operate under the name Yara Praxair AS and would be based in Oslo, Norway. The intentions are to establish the new company during the third quarter.

Yara generated annual sales of US$150 million in fiscal year 2006.

Praxair Inc., Danbury, CT, has agreed to buy The Linde Group’s industrial and medical gases business in Mexico. Linde’s Mexican business operates under the name of AGA S.A. de C.V. The transaction excludes the Mexican assets of the BOC Group, which Linde acquired as part of its acquisition of BOC.

The sale of Linde’s Mexican business is part of a mutual agreement between Praxair and Linde under which Linde acquired the Turkey-based industrial gases producer Karbogaz A. S. in July 2006. Karbogaz was formerly a joint venture company between Praxair and Ismail Aytemiz of Istanbul, Turkey.

AGA S.A. de C.V. has sales of about $75 million in fiscal 2006.
