Know when to say "No"
No one on either the manufacturer or the distributor side likes to say "no," but it has to be said occasionally. In the old days there was more exclusivity: a manufacturer dealt with one distributor in a region and a distributor only had one supplier for a particular product. But that doesnt happen anymore. Dont be afraid to say no, but follow it up with honest communication.
